Analyzing crop performance using Crop Data Sheets

AGRONET uses Crop Data Sheets to provide examples of three possible levels of performance of important crops. The three levels of production are used to illustrate typical combinations of yield with profit (Gross Margin) and the associated inputs. These different 'combinations' are known as 'technical packets' are referred to as good (A), average (B) or poor (C) practice.

Use of Data Sheets

Crop data sheets can be used to assess a farm's level of performance. This is the first step in identifying if is necessary to improve performance. Crop data sheets normally contain sufficient information for a farmer to identify how to improve the performance of a specific crop. This would normally be achieved by changing levels of input such as fertilizer or pesticides.

Data sheets can be accessed from the crop list on the left*. When the data sheets are accessed the first one to be presented will be 'average practice' on average soil.

* As information is collected and collated, information on additional crops will be added including those for suitable for smaller production units.
