Manpower Inputs in hours/ha.

The levels of mechanization in most farm production means that permanent manpower is less of a constraint on production. However, manpower demands do vary significantly during the production season anc can sometimes create a demand for casual labour.

The table below provides a rough indications of manpower demand per hectare for each crop during the production season.

Calculating manpower requirements:

The demand for labour within any particular month is calculated by multiplying the area of crop (A) by the manpower input (m) and dividing by the normal input (i) of hours/month worked.

Thus demand for manpower = (A x m)/i




The table below provides the estimates for manpower input required each month (m) for each crop.
